Chapel of St. Nicholas

In May 2001, in Yalta on the beach, the restoration of the chapel of Nicholas, on the very spot where stood the old chapel was destroyed in 1932.

author of the project was designed by AV Petrova. In laying the first stone and the consecration of the place attended by His Beatitude Vladimir, Metropolitan of Kiev and All Ukraine, and the Archbishop of Simferopol and Crimea Lazar.

chapel laid in 1896 to commemorate the marriage of Their Imperial Majesties Nicholas II and Alexandra Feodorovna on the spot where Czar Nicholas I declared his decree on conferring the status of Yalta City. The author of the project was the Yalta architect N. Krasnov. The solemn consecration of the chapel took place on Dec. 6, 1896 in the presence of Archbishop Martinian. In the outer walls of the chapel is built memorial boards on which was written: September 17, 1837 His Imperial Majesty Nicholas I, looking around at this point was opened before him look, His Majesty commanded to rename the village of Yalta in Yalta. " A few steps lead to the arched door decorated with carvings. Inside the chapel was a large beautiful icon of St. Nicholas, written by S. Korovin.
